If you have young children, I’m sure you’d agree a "snow day" these days means video games and sleeping in. When you drive down a street the yards are empty. No one throws a ball. No one rides a bike. Children don’t know what they are missing. Snow Day shares a great memory of a time before the hand-held electronics…wherein children talked face-to-face and played outside, like backyard football. You might say the goal in writing Snow Day is to inspire the next generation to go outdoors, exercise and have a blast -- yes even in the chilly winter.
No better time to plant this seed of playful exercise than while your children are young.
Growing up in the 80's was an amazing time to be a child and quite different from today. You had 3 channels on TV. You had friends who lived in your own neighborhood. The days were filled with stick-ball in the streets, Ghost in the Graveyard at dusk and football in the Palko's backyard. Football is an amazing sport that so many have enjoyed in high school, college and the pros. And for this former pro-athlete, the love of the game started in a long stretch of muddy, grassy sod behind his house. If your son loves sports, he will enjoy this story.
